Nikita Shah’s Tips For Planning Your Holiday Haul Trip
1. Pre-shop online
You don’t want to go to the mall for anything you can get delivered to your door. Before planning your retail adventure, get what you can off of online stores and hunt for some deals! Some online stores may have some of the more hard-to-find items that you can’t get IRL. Congratulations, you just cut your mall time in half, if not more.
2. Get there early
It’s going to be a pain to get out of bed early on a day off and drag your butt to the mall but the expectation is to get in, grab your stuff, and get out before the crowds come. You can look like a hot mess, it’s okay. This is retail war. You’ll have your choice of parking, some space to breathe, and the stores won’t be a disaster zone yet.
3. Lay out a route
Figure out where you need to go and how you’re going to work your way around the mall. Park in a convenient location (and if you abide by point 2, you should find parking!), and get to work. You’ll save time by not having to figure out where to go next or backtracking. Zip, zip, zip! Efficient.
There’s nothing worse than running out of fuel when it’s go time. Grab a coffee, you’ll be glad you did.
5. Stick to your list!
It’s very easy to get distracted in malls. The displays are made to draw your attention and when you’re gift shopping it’s easy to think of who would love that thing in the window. That’s a one-way ticket to credit card debt and regret. Have an idea of how much you want to spend on each person and do that. It makes it easier to walk away from certain items.
If you make a plan and stick to it, a holiday haul trip to the mall shouldn’t take more than a couple hours and you’re out before the crowds hit! Happy shopping!
