5 Reasons You Need to Own Moana

The day we have all been waiting for has finally arrived! Tomorrow, March 7th Disney releases Moana on Blu-ray. Excuse me while I freak out for approximately five minutes. Here enjoy the trailer:

Okay, now that I’ve regained my composure let’s continue. I could easily just tell you all the things about the Blu-ray release but I just don’t feel like it. Instead, I’m going to give you five reasons why you need to own Moana.

The Animation is AMAZING

This one is for the film buffs out there. Every film aficionado worth their weight appreciates the art of animation. Let me tell you, this film is next level in the animation department. Look at that ocean. While still maintaining the feel of an animated film, the filmmakers and animators continued push animation technology forward. The environments in this film are absolutely stunning. The animation is reason enough to want to revisit this film time and time again.

Moana - Pua - Hei Hei

Moana Has Not One but Two Animal Sidekicks

How many times have you sat down to watch a Disney movie only to have your day completely made by an animal sidekick? If you didn’t answer always, the I don’t even know who you are anymore. It is easily argued that the animal sidekick is the best part of any Disney movie, and Moana has two. You’ll definitely want to have a copy of Moana on hand when you’re feeling low if for no other reason than to watch Pua and Hei Hei.

Music by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foa’i and Mark Mancina

There is nothing that makes me more happy than when the music in a film becomes a character of it’s own. There is no doubt that the music in Moana is a star. Songwriters Lin-Manuel Miranda and Opetaia Foa’i combine the past and present with a unique blend of modern Broadway with traditional South Pacific. Adding to their efforts is Mark Mancina with a score to die for.

Of course the number one reason you’ll want to own a copy of Moana is Moana herself. She is the princess we’ve all been waiting for. Strong and independent yet still flawed and growing. As a person who is ridiculously attached to the princesses of my childhood (namely Belle, Ariel, and Mulan), I can’t help but feel jealous of the little girls who get to grow up with Moana. I know we’ll have several copies of Moana floating around our family as my nieces grow up watching this fierce, wonderful princess defy the odds.

Disney Vault

The Dreaded Disney Vault

Let’s be realistic, the biggest reason to jump on getting Moana on DVD and Blu-ray is, of course, the Disney Vault. It’s only a matter of time before the put Moana safely in the vault and add her into the rotation of sporadically released films. Instead of waiting an undetermined amount of time to get a copy, I recommend just taking the opportunity now.

You can find out more information about the release on the official website. Also, if you are a digital only kind of person, you can get a digital copy now through Disney Movies Anywhere. If you get a copy be sure to take pic and share it with us, we love to geek out with our fellow Disney fans!
