The Hitman’s Bodyguard Has a Great Poster

The summer season is coming to an end, and it’s clear that The Hitman’s Bodyguard wants to end the season with a bang. Unfortunately it falls a few booms short of a showstopper.

At the center of the film is the trial of a political leader being tried for human rights violations and war crimes. The main action focuses on an incarcerated hitman who holds the key to successfully convicting said foreign leader. The only problem is that Interpol has been compromised, and it’s up to an independent bodyguard with a recently ruined reputation to ensure that the hitman gets to the trial alive and on time. Cue some explosions, gun fights, car chases and super snappy dialogue.

If it feels like you’ve seen this movie before, that’s because you’ve most certainly seen something very similar and chances are that movie was better. There is very little that is noteworthy about The Hitman’s Bodyguard. However, there are a few things that we learn from this film and so in lieu of telling you about sub-par explosions, I thought I’d share that short list.

  1. Marvel and Fox need to get their shit together so that we can get a scene between Deadpool and Nick Fury. Despite not having much to work with, Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson were pretty great together
  2. Singing nuns are the best nuns. Of course we really learned this from the musical Nunsense, but I’ll list it anyway.
  3. A spoof poster is always a good poster. The Hitman’s Bodyguard recreated the famous poster from The Bodyguard starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, and it is great.

So, yeah, that’s The Hitman’s Bodyguard. I’m going to go watch some Whitney Houston/Kevin Costner magic now.

Is The Hitman’s Bodyguard Worth Spending The Price of a Ticket?

If you want to stare at Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson on a giant screen, yes. If not, no.
